The Allegheny Mountains Tour takes us to the Northwestern area of Pennsylvania. This region still maintains some of the state’s most pristine land. Situated on over 500,000 acres of dense woodland and narrow valleys, it has more game, — including whitetail deer and black bear — than any other park in the state (we’ll do our best to avoid all of them). |
Our tour will cover approximately 800 miles during this 4-day excursion. We will experience virtually every type of road (hard surface of course) from the super slab to the narrow, twisting back-country roads of rural Pennsylvania. Our route will take us through a number of state forests including the Allegheny National Forest. |
On our way, we’ll visit Gobler’s Knob, home of the infamous weather prognosticator, Punxsutawney Phil, who uses his shadow every February 2nd to inform the rest of the country whether to expect an early spring or a prolonged winter. We’ll visit the sight of the 4th highest railroad bridge in the world, and visit the hometown of actor, Jimmy Stewart. Lastly we’ll travel through historical Johnstown, a commercial city of spirit and spunk, which has been flooded 22 times since 1808. Johnstown also has the steepest Incline Plane in the world. It’s also home of the now famous, Thunder in the Valley motorcycle rally. The Allegheny Mountains EMT will be a ride to please even the most selective motorcycle touring enthusiast. |
